CIS Resumes Premium Processing for H-1B Extensions

13 Jul

Beginning today, July 13, 2015, the USCIS will resume the “premium processing” adjudication service for H-1B extension petitions. The CIS had temporarily suspended premium processing for all H-1B Extension of Stay petitions beginning May 26th, and had expected the suspension to last until July 27, 2015.

With resumption of premium processing coming earlier than expected, previous determinations regarding the timing and strategy for filing H-1B extensions may need to be revisited. Contact your Foster immigration attorney to request an “upgrade” to premium processing for pending H-1B extension petitions or to discuss the timing and strategy for an initial request for premium processing in connection with upcoming extensions.

As always, with premium processing, the CIS charges an additional $1,225 government filing fee and guarantees action on the petition within 15 days. Generally, the guaranteed action may consist of an approval or a Request for Further Evidence, so clients hoping to get the fastest turnaround time for their investment should plan to submit complete documentation with the initial petition filing.

As always, Foster will continue to monitor changes in immigration process and procedures and will provide future updates via our firm’s website at www.fosterglobal.com.
