MEXICO – Temporary Suspension of In-Country Processing of Immigration Filings

27 Sep

On September 25, 2017, the Mexican government announced the suspension from September 25th to 29th of all activities by the Mexican Ministry of the Interior.  This includes the National Immigration Institute (INM), which processes immigration filings in Mexico.  The government closure is anticipated to delay all visa and biometric appointments and processing timeframes for pending applications, as well as prevent applicants from filing documentation at INM offices in response to requests for evidence associated with a pending case.

This announcement comes as an expansion of the suspension announced last week of INM offices in Mexico City and the states of Puebla, Morelos, and Mexico, attributed to the September 19th earthquake in central Mexico.
