Biography
Jesus “Jesse” E. Ochoa is an attorney at Foster LLP in our Houston office. His practice focuses on business immigration, family-based immigration, removal defense, asylum, and other complex U.S. immigration matters. His immigration career began while he was in law school, when he joined a nonprofit immigration organization serving individuals and families navigating the U.S. immigration system. He later transitioned to a business immigration practice, where he worked on employment-based visas, investor matters, and extraordinary-ability cases, progressing from law clerk to associate attorney after becoming licensed. Seeking broader experience, Jesse subsequently practiced in Immigration Court and asylum matters, gaining firsthand experience representing clients in adversarial proceedings before immigration judges. His career has also included founding and managing an immigration law practice, where he represented businesses, entrepreneurs, professionals, investors, and families in a wide range of immigration matters.
His approach to immigration law combines careful legal analysis with practical strategy and an understanding that immigration matters often have consequences extending far beyond a single petition or application. Whether assisting a company with its immigration needs or helping an individual or family navigate the U.S. immigration system, Jesse focuses on providing clear guidance, thorough preparation, and thoughtful representation.
Jesse earned his Juris Doctor from South Texas College of Law Houston and holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Texas A&M International University. He is admitted to practice law in the District of Columbia.
Why I Became an Immigration Attorney
Immigration has always had a personal connection for me. My mother came to the United States as a child with my grandmother and her siblings, so I grew up understanding that immigration is not simply a legal process. It can shape the opportunities, stability, and future of an entire family. Practicing immigration law gives me the opportunity to help others navigate that process while combining the strategic and analytical aspects of law that initially drew me to the profession.
