Visa-Waiver Travelers May Now Check Online and Receive Email Reminders about their Authorized Stay

19 Jan

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) rolled out enhanced features under the “View Compliance” tab of the CBP website, which allows travelers under the Visa Waiver Program (VWP) to check their immigration status and expiration dates of their authorized stay in the United States.  VWP travelers may verify online the number of days remaining, or the number of days that they have overstayed, their lawful admission into the United States.  CBP may now also notify VWP travelers by email from staycompliance-donotreply@cbp.dhs.gov if they are still in the United States within ten (10) days from the expiration of their authorized stay.

VWP travelers may be admitted at the discretion of CBP for stays of up to ninety (90) days for tourist or business visitor activities in the United States.  The authorized period of stay in the United States is determined by the Form I-94 Arrival/Departure Record issued by CBP upon the arrival of a VWP traveler to the United States.
