Wednesday June 14, 2023, Webinar: Impact of Mergers and Acquisitions on Nonimmigrant and Immigrant Visas
5 Jun
The immigration risks associated with mergers, acquisitions, spin-offs, or other corporate transactions include impacts on employee visa statuses or pending immigrant (green card) applications. When the corporate structure or ownership of the petitioning company changes, certain actions may be required to ensure that affected employees remain in compliance with immigration regulations. This webinar will help attendees navigate the compliance requirements and understand how mergers and acquisitions can affect employees in different nonimmigrant visa categories and those with pending green card processes.
- Learning Objectives:
- Attendees will learn about the potential consequences of changes in business structure on non-U.S. workers who are employed based on their nonimmigrant status and/or who have an active immigrant visa (green card) process ongoing.
- Attendees will learn about the impact of corporate restructuring on H-1B, L, and TN nonimmigrant visa category holders, including the potential need for amended petitions and/or documentation required to demonstrate the maintenance of qualifying corporate relationships.
- Attendees will learn about the implications of corporate restructuring for PERM labor certifications and applicants for Adjustment of Status.
- Attendees will learn about successor-in-interest issues related to mergers and acquisitions, such as employer sanctions, compliance audits, and eligibility verification requirements.
