Mr. Thomas H. Meister, German Consulate General in Houston, Texas announces the selection of Ms. Dorothee B. Mitchell as the first Honorary Consul to be based in Austin, Texas. Ms. Mitchell was inaugurated by Consul General Meister in her new position at a ceremony on May 11, 2021

As Honorary Consul, Ms. Mitchell will officially represent the German Consulate General in support of German culture and businesses in Austin and will provide assistance to German citizens in need of consular support in the greater Austin area. Her jurisdiction includes the Bastrop, Bell, Burnet, Caldwell, Corywell, Lampasas, Llano, Milam, Travis, and Williamson counties.
Ms. Mitchell is an attorney and Partner at the immigration law firm of Foster LLP. A native of Nuremberg, Germany, she is licensed to practice law both in the United States and in Germany (Rechtsanwältin). As a native German speaker with a fluency in English, a dual German-US citizen with extensive German and US legal experience she has lived in Austin for the past 15 years and is well connected in the German community in Austin.
