TPS for Hondurans, Nepalis, and Nicaraguans extended

4 Aug

On July 31, 2025, U.S. District Judge Trina Thompson in San Francisco granted plaintiffs’ motion and temporarily postponed the Department of Homeland Security Secretary’s June and July 2025 actions to terminate the Temporary Protective Status (TPS) for Hondurans, Nepalis, and Nicaraguans. The terminations had imposed a September 8, 2025 deadline for the approximately 63,000 Honduran, Nepali, and Nicaraguan TPS beneficiaries to depart the United States or lose their TPS.

Judge Thompson temporarily extended TPS for Hondurans, Nepalis, and Nicaraguans until November 18, 2025, when she will hold a hearing to decide on future action in the case. The Trump administration may appeal the decision, which may result in the terminations being reinstated.
