Traveling Internationally? CBP Now Questioning Travelers When Departing On International Flights.

13 Nov

Foster Immigration Attorneys have received reports of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Immigration Inspection Officers engaging in exit screening and questioning of travelers when departing on international flights. CBP Officers generally inspect arriving travelers but previously did not typically engage in a second inspection, exit screening or questioning of travelers departing the United States.

The screening does not appear to be limited to foreign nationals, and the questioning appears to be focused on money laundering, specifically the amount of U.S. currency in the traveler’s possession, as well as the duration and purpose of recent U.S. travel and travel to the destination country.

Contact your Foster Immigration Attorney if you have any questions or concerns in advance of international travel or if you experience such questioning when traveling internationally.
