On December 10, 2025, the Trump Gold Card program officially went live. U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) also posted a new application form, Form I-140G, Immigrant Petition for the Gold Card Program. Pursuant to Executive Order 14351, the Trump Gold Card offers permanent residence to individuals who make a mandatory “gift” of $1 million (or $2 million corporate gift) to the U.S. government.
Before filing Form I-140G, Gold Card applicants must first register and pay visa processing fees on trumpcard.gov. To complete the registration, the applicant must provide their personal information and submit a nonrefundable $15,000 processing fee per person. So, if the applicant is also filing for a spouse and one child (under the age of 21), a processing fee of $45,000 must be paid. If the online registration is ultimately accepted, USCIS will contact the applicant with instructions to create a USCIS online account and proceed with filling out Form I-140G.
In addition to the $15,000 per person processing fee, a gift payment is required and additional Department of State (DOS) “small fees” may also apply. For an individual, the required gift to the United States is $1 million for the principal beneficiary, and $1 million per person for any accompanying spouse or children listed on the petition. For a corporation or similar entity filing on behalf of an individual, the required gift to the United States is $2 million for the principal beneficiary, and $1 million per person for any accompanying spouse and children. Like the processing fee, all gifts are nonrefundable, even if the petition is denied.
While the Trump Gold Card application promises a decision “in record time”, the expected processing time is still unclear. The Gold Card website indicates processing of the application “should take weeks”, but this will depend on several factors such as appointment availability for the applicant’s mandatory interview, as well as responses to additional document requests.
For future consideration, the registration website also previews the Trump Platinum Card. The Platinum Card will allow applicants to reside in the U.S. for up to 270 days per year without U.S. taxation on non-U.S. income. When this program is launched, a $15,000 processing fee and $5 million contribution will apply. The Platinum Card is not yet available, but interested applicants may join a waitlist.
Foster LLP will continue to monitor Trump Gold Card updates and provide additional updates via our firm’s website at www.fosterglobal.com.
