U.S. Department of State Announces Plans to Revoke Visas of Some Chinese Students

4 Jun

On May 28, 2025, the U.S. Department of State announced that it will coordinate with the Department of Homeland Security to revoke visas held by certain Chinese students, particularly those with ties to the Chinese Communist Party or those engaged in studies related to sensitive or critical fields.

According to the announcement, the State Department also plans to revise visa criteria to increase scrutiny of future visa applications from individuals from the People’s Republic of China and Hong Kong. As of now, the specific details of these revised criteria have not been released.

Individuals who may be affected by this development are strongly encouraged to consult with qualified immigration counsel to address any concerns regarding visa revocations.
