US Department of State Suspends Routine Visa Services

19 Mar

On March 18, 2020, the U.S. Department of State announced the temporary suspension of routine visa services in most countries worldwide. For several days various posts have been notifying applicants of appointment cancellation, but the Department of State had not yet formally announced a near worldwide suspension of visa services.

The Department of State has indicated visa services will return as soon as possible but has not given a date. U.S. citizen services remain available.

Emergency visa services may be available in true emergency situations at some or all posts, and applicants may visit each individual post’s website for more information on what may qualify as an emergency.
