On April 9, 2025, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced that it will take into account activity on social media that it considers to be antisemitic when evaluating certain requests for immigration benefits. The USCIS announcement says that this policy will immediately affect applicants for lawful permanent resident (“green card”) status, foreign students, and non-citizens affiliated with educational institutions linked to antisemitic activity who have posted social media content endorsing, espousing, promoting, or supporting organizations such as Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, Hezbollah, or the Houthis.
Foster will continue to follow developments impacting immigration benefits and will provide additional information as it becomes available via future Immigration Updates© and on our firm’s website at www.fosterglobal.com.
