USCIS will Reopen FY-2025 H-1B Lottery

30 Jul

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has announced that they will be selecting additional H-1B registrations that from those that were submitted in March 2024 for the fiscal year 2025 H-1B lottery. Petitioners with selected registrations from this second lottery will be eligible to submit H-1B cap-subject petitions for the beneficiary named in the applicable registration.

Registrations qualifying under either the Bachelor’s cap or the Master’s cap will be entered into this second round of the lottery. No announcement has yet been made regarding the number of new selections in this second round of the lottery nor when the current selection window will begin or end.

Given the 470,342 eligible registrations for this year’s lottery and the annual quota of 85,000 H-1B numbers, the probability that a previously unselected registration will be selected in this second round, or any future round is small.

Foster recommends that employers continue to monitor their emails closely for notifications from USCIS of H-1B registration selections. Companies with selected registrations will have their USCIS online accounts updated to include a selection notice with details of when and where to file.

Foster will provide additional updates on H-1B cap adjudications via our firm’s website at www.fosterglobal.com.
